Borussia Dortmund has announced that significant injury to Youssoufa Moukoko, the 17-year-old forward who is currently on loan from Manchester United, has been confirmed.
The young talent suffered a knee ligament injury in training and will be out for several months.
Moukoko has made a name for himself with his impressive performances for Dortmund's under-23 team, where he has scored six goals and provided three assists in just seven appearances.
He has also impressed at international level, earning call-ups to both France and Senegal U20s.
However, the injury is a setback for Dortmund as they look to compete for Champions League football next season.
Dortmund manager Lucien Favre said: "We're very disappointed for Youssoufa and his family. He was showing great progress and we hope he'll recover quickly."
Manchester United have already spoken to Dortmund about Moukoko's situation and will continue to monitor the situation closely.
It remains to be seen how this will impact their plans for the future, but it is clear that Moukoko's career could be affected by the injury.
