In recent weeks, Barcelona have been linked with the signing of Xavi Simons, but it appears that his transfer has not yet been finalized. However, in an interview with The Sun, Simons revealed that he is eager to join RB Leipzig and prove himself as one of the best players in Europe.
Simons was born in Belgium and moved to England when he was just four years old. He began his career at Manchester United before moving on to Liverpool where he made 167 appearances for the club's first team. After leaving the Premier League, he signed for Bayern Munich and made 288 appearances for the Bundesliga side.
Despite being a versatile player, Simons struggled to find consistency at Bayern Munich and eventually left the club in 2019. In January 2020, he joined Real Madrid on loan until the end of the season. There, he played a key role in helping the club win the Champions League.
After returning to Germany, Simons spent time with Schalke 04 before joining RB Leipzig. Despite making only three league appearances during his first season there, Simons impressed enough to earn him a contract extension until 2025.
The move to RB Leipzig is a big step up from his previous club, and Simons is excited about the challenge ahead. "It's a dream come true," said Simons. "I'm looking forward to playing with such a talented team and working hard every day."
As for the future of the Brazilian international, he is still unsure of what he wants to do next. "I'll make my decision after I play some games," he said. "But right now, I'm focused on improving my game and getting better."
