Al Rayyan, the Gulf’s largest airline, has announced that its top executive officer (CEO) Abdullah Al-Zahrani is recovering from injuries sustained in an accident during flight training.
The airline said that Al Zahrani was injured when he was hit by a flying debris at a military airfield in Iraq. The incident occurred while Al Zahrani was flying a commercial jet to Baghdad for an important meeting with Iraqi officials.
Despite being rushed to hospital, Al Zahrani had been released from treatment and is currently undergoing rehabilitation. He will be back on the job as soon as possible.
Al Rayyan also confirmed that it is looking into potential compensation claims against the airline for any losses caused by the accident. The company said that it would work closely with law enforcement and other relevant authorities to investigate the incident and determine the appropriate course of action.
In addition to the accident, Al Rayyan has also been facing criticism over its handling of a previous scandal involving a passenger who died after being found unconscious in a commercial plane during takeoff. The airline faced significant backlash for its response to the incident, which led to a public relations crisis that ultimately led to the resignation of several executives.
Overall, it remains unclear what exactly happened during the accident at the military airfield in Iraq, but it seems likely that it involved a technical error or a malfunction in the aircraft's system. Regardless of the cause, the safety of passengers and crew remains a priority for Al Rayyan and its stakeholders.
